How I Clean Our Bathroom Without Making It Complicated

This is my daughter's bathroom, photographed exactly how it looked when I started cleaning — towels out, products on the counter, and the usual things that collect in a bathroom that gets used every day. I don't use a complicated cleaning schedule. I clear everything out of the way, work through the room, and finish with the floor and fresh towels.

The real before — exactly how the bathroom looked when I started.

Clear the Counter First

Before I spray anything, I move the towels, toiletries, and everything else off the counter. It only takes a minute and makes wiping everything down much easier.

I clean the counter and sink, wipe the faucet, and put things back once the surface is finished.

The Toilet

Next I clean the toilet. I use a disposable-head toilet wand for the bowl, making sure to get under the rim.

Then I wipe the seat, lid, handle, hinges, and base — the places that tend to collect the most mess.

The Tub

I spray the tub and let the cleaner sit for a few minutes before scrubbing. Letting it sit does most of the hard work.

Then I scrub the bottom, sides, and around the drain, rinse everything well, and pull any hair from the drain while I'm there.

Floor and Fresh Towels Last

I finish with the floor so I'm not cleaning it twice. Once that's done, the mats go back down and fresh towels go up.

It won't stay spotless for long — it's a bathroom that gets used every day — but it's clean, reset, and ready to go again.
